Alpha 0.5.5 - Skills & Animation Overhaul
Major Systems Update
Hey everyone! v0.5.5 is here with some substantial under-the-hood improvements and new content. While we're still working toward the full psychological relationship system outlined in our design goals, this update lays crucial groundwork and adds meaningful new gameplay elements.

Shapeshifting System
- Brand new modular shapeshifting framework - the foundation for transformation abilities
- Fox transformation now available to Anna at level 1
- Full possession compatibility - shapeshifting works seamlessly with existing possession mechanics
Complete Animation Overhaul
- Smart Animation Player replaces the old animation tree system
- Unified system works across all characters for smoother, more consistent animations
- Performance improvements and better visual polish throughout
Enhanced Skill Progression
- Every character now levels skills 1-10 with meaningful progression
- Automatic skill unlocks as you reach new levels - no more manual point allocation
- New buff system integrated into the skill framework
- Complete skill rebalancing - every existing skill has been touched and improved
Improved Combat & Exploration
- Possession skills expanded with mind control and brainwashing capabilities
- Saki is more competent in both combat and exploration scenarios
- Better target feedback - stat bars now show correct experience labels
- Win condition implemented - complete victory state with auto-save and game exit
🛠️ Technical Foundation
This release involved 102 files changed with +1,803/-1,064 lines of modifications. While much of this work is architectural (building the foundation for future relationship mechanics), the improvements should be immediately noticeable in smoother gameplay and more engaging progression.
